Trump's Policies Constitute a Threat to Civilized Society.

His national and international policies – including the attempted coup five years ago to recent moves and threats – weaken both national and global jurisprudence. The implications are broader.

They endanger the fundamental meaning of what we mean by.

A guiding principle of a functioning society is to stop the more powerful from harming and taking advantage of the less powerful. Without this, we risk being trapped in a state of nature where only the fittest wins.

This concept is central of the nation's founding texts. This is also the core of the global system established after WWII championed by the America, built on multilateralism, democracy, fundamental freedoms, and the legal authority.

But, it is a delicate construct, frequently ignored by those who choose to misuse their authority. Upholding it requires that the influential have a sense of duty to avoid seeking short-term wins, and that the rest of us ensure they answer for their actions when they fail.

Unchecked strength is not right. It results in turmoil, chaos, and conflict.

Every time individuals, companies, or nations that are wealthier and stronger prey upon those that are less so, the structure of society unravels. Should such behavior are left unchecked, the fabric unravels. Without intervention, the world can plunge into chaos and war. History provides ample precedent.

We now inhabit a society and world marked by extreme inequality. Influence and wealth are held by fewer hands than in recent memory. This invites the privileged to take advantage of the less fortunate because they perceive themselves as untouchable.

The resources of a handful of billionaires is staggering. The reach of global industrial giants covers a vast portion of the world. AI is could centralize wealth and power further. The military might of the major powers is without parallel in human history.

Empowered by political allies and a pliant supreme court, the highest office has been transformed into the most dominant and unchecked agent of the state in history.

Put it all together and you perceive the threat.

A clear connection connects past transgressions to current threats. Each were based on the arrogance of omnipotence.

You see much the same in the actions of other powers: in military conflicts, in expansive ambitions, and in the rampant monopolization by powerful corporate entities.

But, strength without restraint does not create right. It makes for fragility, revolution, and bloodshed.

The lessons of the past reveal that rules and conventions to limit the influential also shield them. If these guardrails are removed, their endless appetite for increased control and resources in time bring them down – and with them their enterprises, countries, or domains. And pave the way for global conflict.

This blatant contempt for legal order will plague America and the global community – and indeed civilization – for years to come.
