Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.
“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from management,” Slot remarked.
“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”
He continued, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”
When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach said:
“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”
He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”
Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.
“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”
“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results so bad.”
Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”
“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”
“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
