Air travel have restarted at Edinburgh Airport after a major technical issue at the control tower grounded all flights.

All aircraft movements were halted after an systems problem that arose around 08:30.

A number of travelers reported being stuck in jets at the stand as the outage continued.

Services Recommence with Continued Disruption

A statement indicated at 10:40 that services were back online, and thanked passengers for their "patience and understanding".

That said, significant disruption are expected to affect schedules. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been called off, with a host of additional flights experiencing delays.

Officials had earlier anticipated that dozens of flights could be impacted.

"Travelers are urged to check directly with their airline for the current status on their individual travel plans," the statement added.
